I. To obtain empirical evidence elucidating the complex interplay between host genetics, GM and the risk of developing chronic metabolic disorders.
II. To identify effects of fibre- and grain-based dietary interventions on GM and on host responses, which affect this risk.
III. To develop new innovative products as well as basis for EFSA-accreditation of foods, which improve the composition of the GM and/or reduce clinical markers of mucosal
and systemic low-grade inflammation.
IV. To improve national dietary guidelines and to prevent chronic metabolic disorders including obesity, Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), and cardiovascular diseases (CVD).
